Below are our regular events, held each year (or in the case of the Mountain Music Jam, every week). For one-time events, such as concerts, plays, and other happenings in and around the 1908 Courthouse, see our calendar.

Join us on Wednesday evening (6:30 to 9:00pm) for an old-time mountain music Jam. It is just like "front-porch pickin'" except it's at the 1908 Courthouse. If the weather permits, the music will be outdoors under our bandstand. If not, we'll do it inside. Either way, every Wednesday, we'll be there.

Bring a folding chair or use one of ours. Even in the summer, it's a good idea to bring a jacket 'cause it can get chilly outside.

It's free but if you feel motivated, we have a donation box that supports the courthouse.

What better place to celbrate Independence Day than in Independence, VA!?

Each year the Town of Independence goes all-out and we have one of the longest parades in the area. Along with that there are craft booths and food vendors galore. Listen to live music from our bandstand as you enjoy your lunch.

This recently-added annual event is a wine tasting featuring several wineries from the region. In 2001 we had a great event even though we were driven indoors by Hurricane Irene's winds.

Winereis in 2011 included Chateau Morrisette, West Wind, LeoGrande, and Bright Meadows. We had live music with "Just Jazz' doing swing jazz. We also had several high-quality craft vendors showing their wares.

In 2012 we hope to be outside with beautiful late-August weather. Come Joins us. We'll post details of our 2012 event as the time comes closer .

Always the second Saturday in October. This festival is in conjuction with the Town of Independence and includes Virginia's only Official Grand Privy Race! See dare-devil racers push their wheeled outhouses down main street for prizes and bragging rights!
