In 1994, the Courthouse Foundation Board of Directors, in an effort to open the building to the public and to create an viable income, approved a proposal to start a retail art & craft shop in the old Treasurer's Office on the first floor. Called, The Treasury, this endeavor benefits not only the Historic 1908 Courthouse, but also the prolific artistic community of this region.

Today, The Treasury has over 100 contributing artists and artisans from all over the region.

Courthouse Foundation Board Member, Lee Lang, voluntarily manages the shop and the staff.

Open from 10:00 AM 'til 5:00 PM Monday - Friday and on Saturday's from 10:00 am 'til 4:00 pm, The Treasury, is a consignment shop whose proceeds go directly to the Historic 1908 Courthouse.

Sales associates are Darlous Jones and Lib Wingate.

Volunteers continue to contribute about 65 hours a month.

Beautifully handcrafted items fill the shop (above). Also available are Courthouse Collectibles (right). Grayson County items are also sold and include;: all cotton afghan depicting historic homes and buildings (available in two colors), mugs, t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, postcards & books about the county.

Browsing is a must in this unique setting! Items range from pottery to fine art originals and prints, music on cd's and cassettes, stained glass, handcrafted all natural soap & health products, homemade jams & jellies, baskets, quilted items, dolls, wooden utensils, end tables, blanket chests, biscuit cutters, bird houses, jewelry and much more.
